As part of our full-home renovation in McHenry, Illinois, Studio Fifth Sunday reimagined the primary bathroom into a serene, spa-like retreat that seamlessly connects with the home’s wooded surroundings. This once-dated bath was completely transformed into a mid century modern bath that balances organic warmth with contemporary design. Wood-look tile brings natural texture and warmth, while deep green subway tile adds richness and a subtle nod to the forest setting. Large-format, concrete-look tiles anchor the space with a sleek, minimalist edge, creating a clean and elevated backdrop.

Floating vanities on either side of the space not only enhance the modern aesthetic but also provide ample storage and functionality. The centerpiece of the room is the expansive, curbless shower—designed to feel almost like an outdoor experience with its open flow and seamless transitions. This thoughtfully designed bath is the perfect blend of mid century modern style and modern-day comfort, delivering a private oasis that feels deeply connected to both nature and design innovation.
